关于作者

I'm a bilingual Protestant minister in Austin, Texas. I direct a church-based, city-wide social ministry organization. My most recent book, "There is a Balm in Wichita Falls," follows the plights of two valient crime-victim survivors. It's a true story written in page-turning nonfiction narrative style. My previous book, "There is a Balm in Huntsville," a gripping narrative, tells the true tale of a convict’s transformation through his participation in the Texas criminal justice system’s Victim-Offender Dialogue program. Both books highlight powerful depictions of good wrested from situations of extreme difficulty, and show how light is capable of overcoming deep darkness. My first book, "Just a Little Bit More" (2014), delves into exended commentary on how unbridled greed plagues our social construct. I champion the classic American virtue of egalitariansim as the remedy to unabted greed and its byproducts. The book draws from the chaos of the Great Recession, and the ills of late-stage capitalism, to ask readers to engage with the uncomfortable truths of how we got here. I draw on American history, biblical teachings, and secular texts to form an engaging, and surprisingly hopeful, piece of nonfiction that argues for a distinctly communal way forward. I interned as a seminary student in Peru in the late 1980s, and was captivated by Latin American culture and the Spanish language. This appreciation would later spur my pen name, T. Carlos (a bilingual twist on my given name), and led my wife and me to explore a life in Texas. I'm inspired by the biblical teachings of love and social justice, and I write to engage readers in conversations that reach beyond church walls.
