TW Robinson was born and raised in Alabama. He began a career in law enforcement at the age of twenty-two. He moved to Tuscaloosa, where he worked as a city police officer until he retired in 2017. After retiring, he began writing for fun in his spare time. In 2020, he decided to apply to be a security guard at a local college at the age of forty-eight. On a whim, he published his first fiction novel, The Retirement, only because he thought it would look good on his resume. He didn’t expect many sales. Much to his surprise, that same novel was an instant success. After publishing, he decided not to pursue security work. Instead, he started training himself in writing. For the next two years, he took multiple classes in writing, publishing, and marketing. He combined everything he had learned and condensed it all into one book for new authors. He released it in 2022. He has said that would be his one and only non-fiction publication ever. He made a decision to only write dark, contemporary romance series in the future. When asked why he chose to only focus on the romance genre after his training, he explained: “Romance is a well that will never run dry. Even people who don’t read that genre can relate to it. I want to tell stories that are very character-driven. I want to write books that readers don’t want to put down. I plan to make my readers cry rivers of tears and break their hearts into a thousand pieces before they get to that ‘happily ever after’ ending. My goal is simple. I want to take you on an emotional roller-coaster you’ll never forget. I want you to remember my books for the rest of your life. Romance is the best genre for me to tell those kinds of stories.” He shocked several of his fans in 2023 on social media with a comment. When the subject of books being made into movies and TV shows came up, he made it clear where he stood on the matter. “I spend more time with my characters than I do with anyone else. I spend at least eight hours a day with them. I love them with all my heart. I would never betray my characters by giving them away to someone in Hollywood. Another person could change them or misrepresent them. I don’t work in movies. I don’t work in TV. I’m a writer. I write novels. I realize I’m one of very few authors who feel this way. But I’ll never allow any of my stories to be turned into a TV show or a movie. The only place you will ever see any of my stories or any of my characters is in my books.” TW Robinson married his high school sweetheart at age twenty-four. She currently works for a major news outlet. As of 2024, he and his wife still live in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, with their cats.
