Tadhg Coakley lives in Cork city. His most recent book, a crime novel and sequel to Whatever It Takes, called Before He Kills Again will be published by Mercier Press in March 2023 and is available to preorder now. The First Sunday in September – a novel in stories – was shortlisted for the Mercier Press fiction prize and was published in 2018 to much acclaim. Donal Ryan described it as ‘vibrant and authentic, brimming with intensity and desire’. Coakley’s second book, Whatever It Takes is a crime novel set in Cork city and was published by Mercier Press in May, 2020. It was the Cork, One City One Book choice for 2020. His third book, Everything, is with the Cork dual-star Denis Coughlan was published by Hero Books in September, 2020. His fourth book, The Game: A Journey into the Heart of Sport was published by Merrion Press in June 2022. His short stories, articles, sports writing and essays have appeared in the Irish Examiner, Irish Times, Stinging Fly, Winter Papers, the Cork Words 2 Anthology, the Holly Bough, the42.ie, Honest Ulsterman, Silver Apples, Quarryman and the From the Well anthology.
