Welcome to We Can Sign illustrated guide for Kids, I am so honored to be part of your ASL learning journey! Learning ASL was one of the biggest turning points in my life and helped me stop being ashamed of my Deafness. I will never forget the first time I felt comfortable pulling my hair back into a ponytail in public and being proud of my identity as a person with a hearing loss. I am so thankful to all the people who also learned sign language so that I could more fully participate in conversations with my family and friends. Congratulations and thank YOU for taking the first step in learning to communicate with those who have hearing or speech difficulties! I have been teaching community and children's ASL classes since 2003 and every class I get to teach and every person I get to reach is a gift to both myself, my two children with hearing loss and all other members of the Deaf community.
