I have been a reporter since 1974. I worked for six newspapers and now write for two websites, TheStreet and Forbes. I have written two books. "Carl Furillo: Brooklyn Dodgers All-Star," was published by McFarland in Nov. 2010. It describes how Carl's memory has been tarnished by two incidents in which he was treated unfairly, once by people who manipulated the memory of Jackie Robinson to reflect better on themselves, and then by the Dodgers, who sought to release Carl when he was injured without properly compensating him. It also tells the story of the 1946-1957 Brooklyn Dodgers, one of the most memorable teams in baseball history. My second book is about the histories and merger of American Airlines and US Airways. I wrote it with Dan Reed, like me a longtime airlines reporter, although we are not related. The book is supposed to be out by Christmas 2014.
