Tom Clarie holds a Master's Degree in History from the University of Connecticut and another Master's Degree in Library Science from Southern Connecticut State University, where he achieved the rank of full professor. He is a strong advocate for preserving beautiful, historic buildings and has belonged for years to the National Trust for Historic Preservation. He has great respect for UNESCO's worldwide work preserving historic sites and landmarks and receives weekly updates from UNESCO's World Heritage Committee on their progress. In his writings, he seeks to save the lives and lore not just of historic places, but also of highly interesting people whose achievements on earth have been forgotten.
