Thomas G. Gunning

Tom Gunning holds a doctorate in the Psychology of Reading from Temple University, is Professor Emeritus, Southern Connecticut State University, and has been a secondary English teacher and an elementary school reading consultant. He has written several textbooks on the teaching of reading, including: Closing the Literacy Gap, Accelerating the Progress of Underperforming Students, Guilford Press, 2022; Creating Literacy Instruction for All Students, 11th Ed., Pearson, 2024; Assessing and Correcting Reading and Writing Difficulties, 6th Ed., Pearson,2018, and Reading Success for All Students, Jossey-Bass, 2012. He is also the author of Foundational Literacy Booster: 50 Lessons for Reading Multisyllabic Words.
