Toni Sepeda grew up in southern California but has lived in Italy and Turkey since the early 1980s. After a four-year stay in London during the 1970s, she received a Ph.D. in Literature and advanced degrees in Art History. For the past 30 years Professor Sepeda (“Dr. T.”) has been teaching for the University of Maryland European Division and traveling extensively in Europe, the Middle East and China. Her annual courses in Paris, Rome and Venice focus on her specialty “Expatriate Writers and Artists in Europe.” Toni and her partner of more than twenty years, Craig, divide their time between a small organic farm and vineyard in the Dolomites, a 400-year old house in Venice, and an isolated beach house on the Black Sea coast of Turkey. Her passions for travel, food, and art have been given scope in guide books and a recent collaboration on Venetian cuisine. Her latest book BRUNETTI’S VENICE: WALKS THROUGH THE NOVELS, features twelve personally designed tours in the city seen through the eyes of writer Donna Leon’s beloved detective Commisario Brunetti. Dr. T.also arranges personal walks based on her book and others on the arts and sights of the world’s most beautiful city.
