Tony Ettwein is a fourth-generation resident of southwest Michigan. After a 30-year career in the health care quality and regulatory compliance field, he answered a serious calling to become an amateur historian. Tony enjoys reading and writing newspaper and magazine articles about history, and talking with other amateur historians, especially about American and Michigan history. In 2018, during the half-century anniversary of the historic events of 1968, Tony wrote the book "1968 + 50: Looking back at the historic, tumultuous year of 1968" and posted stories daily on a companion Facebook page. He published an updated version in 2023 called "1968: Turning Points," and in 2024 published "Texting Lincoln: A semi-true tale of an Illinois prairie lawyer’s return to Kalamazoo." Tony and his wife, Molly, live in Portage, Michigan and visit their grown-up kids whenever they can.
