Travis Smith

Travis Smith is a self-described Mid Century Modernist addicted to vintage cars, barbecue, Bears (the Gay kind), and pop culture. Travis owned a successful Mid Century furnishing store in Washington DC, called Good Eye, as well as designing interiors for many popular nightclubs in the DC/VA area. His love of Retro and Christmas led him to write his first book, "Kitschmasland!", a coffee table book celebrating kitschy holiday decor and collectibles from the 1950s through 70s. It has since become a cult classic among Retrophiles. Travis, along with pal and Co-Author Chris Bale, recently created Modern Bear - a multimedia company devoted to combining their love of Modern Design and the Bear lifestyle. Their unique niche led to a one of the most popular Bear pages on facebook, www.facebook.com/modernbear, and now a book! They have co-authored "Guide for the Modern Bear" - their quirky pop culture peek into the Gay Bear World and the characters who inhabit it. With this book they combined their love of travel into a humorous and informative travel guide as well.
