Tyson is a Marine Corps veteran who survived a mortar explosion in Iraq in 2006. The mortar landed just 1-2 feet away, and he was fortunate to escape with his life and legs. This life-altering experience, along with nearly 40 years of life, has profoundly shaped who he is today. He served ten years in the Marine Corps, deploying twice to Iraq to support CASEVAC missions, and received a Purple Heart Medal in 2007. After returning to Texas, Tyson turned to writing as a cathartic pursuit, driven by a love of learning and exploration. Inspired by Einstein’s words, "The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know," he applies this mindset to both his research and writing. When not immersed in his professional work, Tyson relishes time with his children, embracing life’s adventures and endless entertainment together. He enjoys studying psychology, philosophy, and spirituality, practicing meditation, and continually seeking self-mastery. Being outdoors—fishing, playing ice hockey, and exploring nature—also brings him joy. Passionate about supporting fellow veterans, Tyson finds fulfillment in organizing healing experiences through shared moments in nature. From hunting and fishing to simply soaking in the tranquility of the outdoors, he has traveled from British Columbia to Mexico to help fellow veterans on their healing journeys.
