Uche Mac-Auley

关于作者

The many nights Uche sat beneath the starlit African sky as a child, listening to folktales told by her mother and maternal aunts, laid the foundation for a life devoted to storytelling. Uche is a Playwright, Children’s Books Writer, Screenwriter, and Nollywood actor & filmmaker. Her career spans multiple mediums, from writing critically acclaimed stage plays like A Past Came Calling—used to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women—and A Voice for Ella, to creating children’s books and screenplays that inspire and entertain. Under her pen name, Uche Ama-Abriel, A Past Came Calling has been critiqued and cited in academic discussions and is a cornerstone for conversations on African societal development through theatre. This play, alongside her other works, is performed in schools and tertiary institutions, up to postgraduate levels. Two of her children’s books, The Lion & The Fawn and Jabari: A Long Way From Home, were chosen by the British Council as part of Nigeria’s literary presentation at the 2012 London Olympics. Uche’s works have been published, performed, and produced for the screen, often becoming part of academic curricula. Her dynamic career includes acting in and producing Nollywood films, where she’s brought many of her own characters to life. A storyteller at heart, Uche continues to inspire through her words, performances, and enduring creativity.
