Uzma Aslam Khan is an award-winning author of five novels published worldwide. These include Trespassing, recipient of a 2003 Commonwealth Prize nomination; The Geometry of God, a Kirkus Reviews' Best Book of 2009; Thinner Than Skin, nominated for the Man Asian Literary Prize and DSC Prize for South Asian Literature, and winner of the French Embassy Prize for Best Fiction at the Karachi Literature Festival 2014. Khan’s fifth novel, The Miraculous True History of Nomi Ali, has won the 2023 Massachusetts Book Awards in Fiction. It was a New York Times' pick for "Best Historical Fiction 2022" and "Books for Summer 2022"; a 2022 Foreword Reviews' INDIES finalist in Historical Fiction; winner of both the 9th UBL Literary Awards English Language Fiction category as well as the Karachi Literature Festival-Getz Pharma Fiction Prize in Pakistan; and in India was shortlisted for the Tata Literature Live! Best Book of the Year Award for Fiction. Khan’s short stories include "Our Own Fantastic," second prize recipient of Australian Book Review's 2023 Elizabeth Jolley Short Story Prize; “Plum Island,” winner of Zoetrope: All Story Short Fiction competition 2019, judged by Tommy Orange; and “My Mother is a Lunar Crater,” second prize recipient of Zoetrope: All Story Short Fiction Competition 2018, judged by Column McCann. Her work has appeared in Granta, AGNI, The Massachusetts Review, Nimrod International Journal, Calyx, the Guardian, and many other journals. Born and raised primarily in Pakistan, Khan has also lived in the Philippines, Japan, England, Morocco, and, in the US, in Upstate New York, Arizona, Hawaii, and presently in western Massachusetts.
