Sage Explorer, Foundress & Spiritual Director Virginia (Ginny) Gilmore is passionate about learning and leadership fostering systemic change rooted in healing and wholeness in our world. Ginny’s work over the last 20 years has been dedicated to supporting others in their lifelong leadership journey – specifically to access and unleash the potential for greater compassion and deeper connection to one another. She strongly believes wisdom lives within each person, and when people intentionally awaken their heart to that wisdom, the seeds of passion and possibilities are watered. Ginny’s experience with her father and two brothers in their fourth-generation family manufacturing business, Kaytee Products Inc., served as the foundation for servant leadership in her career. Focusing on the importance of leadership as relationship, she expanded her learning and network by forming teaching and learning communities for research and service. In 2002, Ginny founded an organization today called Sophia Transformative Leadership Partners, with the vision of creating caring communities through its mission of supporting the spirit, dignity, and potential of every person with unique leadership programming and partnership. In 2009, Marian University recognized Ginny with a Doctor of Humane Letters to honor her work in servant leadership in the community and the world. Today, Ginny focuses on learning, writing, facilitating, and mentoring others who are navigating change in their work and their lives. She is one of the founders and a facilitator in the Virtual Servant Leadership Learning Community® program. In addition to Ginny’s book Wisdom from the Woods (coauthored with Duane Trammell), Ginny’s work and influence are cited by many friends and authors, including Apples are Square by Kuczmarski & Kuczmarski, Choose Wisely by Gary Boelhower, The Spirit of Servant Leadership essay by Deborah Welch and Ginny Gilmore, Dedications: Biography of Robert K. Greenleaf by Don Frick, Forgiveness at Work by Deborah Welch, and The Art of Coaching for Servant Leadership by Ann McGee Cooper, Deborah Welch, and Duane Trammell. Ginny and her husband enjoy spending time in Wisconsin in the summer and Florida in the winter. Ginny continues to be inspired by her faith and her church. And most of all, she loves her family and the blessing of being “Grammie” to her four grandchildren.
