I wrote The Good Life Lab to share what I had learned after setting out to create a decommodified life. I followed a pledge that I made around the time that I quit my job in NYC and headed to New Mexico to build an off grid homestead. I pledged to learn to make the goods that I had once bought (rather than buy them), and to seek abundance rather than wealth. The lessons that I learned since, have showed me that having a job can be expensive and that the most valuable thing, responsibility, cannot be bought. Today I know that when the whole world is for sale the maker of things is the revolutionary of the age. Cheers to adventures and revolutions!
