Since completing my formal education at the University of Pittsburgh and The Ohio State University, I have pursued three careers. The first was in technology companies, including Bell Telephone Laboratories, GE, and Harris Corporation, with a focus on integrated circuit design. My most important work was in dynamic random-access memories (DRAMs) and led to my second career as an expert witness in patent litigation cases. In that role, I testified before several U.S. District Courts, the International Trade Commission, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. During my business travels I encountered a fascinating character named Adolph Sutro. In 2017 I retired from my technical careers and decided to write about Sutro. The resulting biography was published in 2020, and I have been writing ever since. My wife and I were high school sweethearts and have been married for 60 years. We live near Pinehurst, NC and have two adult children and seven grandchildren.
