Willow Smart is an award-winning artisanal cheese maker and organic farmer. With deep roots in agriculture, Willow comes from a family that boasts ten generations of cattle ranchers. She has spent over three decades nurturing the land and its biodiversity. Willow has received over 30 national and international awards for her artisanal cheeses created from the milk of her own sheep and cows. Since 1991, she has managed a thriving 478-acre organic farm in Vermont, cultivating a diverse range of fruits and vegetables. Since 1992, the farm has also operated a successful pick-your-own operation, inviting the community to pick in season. Her farm operations have included raising grass-fed beef and lamb, whey-fed pigs, chickens, and sheep. In addition, Willow has operated a successful retail greenhouse business, providing certified organic plants to the community. With a Bachelor of Science degree in soil science and horticulture, Willow combines scientific expertise with practical experience to create sustainable and productive farming systems. For over 24 years, she has sold her farm products through farmers markets, wholesale, and retail channels, earning a reputation for quality and innovation. Willow Smart’s life and work reflect her commitment to sustainable agriculture, artisanal craftsmanship, and community engagement.
