Hi! I'm Yuliya Makliuk ‒ a ceramicist and environmentalist with a special interest in how ceramic art/craft can assist in sustainable development. I have an MSc in Ecology and an MA in Social Change and divide my time between working in a pottery studio and consulting small and medium enterprise in environmental management. My studio 'Here & Now' is certified as Clean Green Ceramics and I'm proud to be an NCECA Green Task Force volunteer. I call my art practice 'a potter's journey in the time of climate crisis'. I create functional and expressive ceramic pieces and am a public speaker. As an artist/maker I operate on the margins between product design, social entrepreneurship and politically engaged art.
