Growing up, the love between two men was not always openly celebrated or even accepted. I was very fortunate to have the love of two wonderful parents who taught me the lesson of love and respect. I was taught to be true to myself. When I finally came out to my parents, their reactions weren’t what I expected. My parents laughed and told me they had known since I was a child. Their unconditional love for me saved me from a life hidden in the shadows. Today, I still live by the code I learned at a young age. Life is too short and too quick to worry about what others do. Live life as if it were to be your last day.
