If you’re into stories that take you on an emotional roller coaster in the best possible way, this one is for you. I laughed, cried, and gripped my heart from the tenderness of this more-than-a-romance love story. Author Abby Jimenez has this canny ability to weave complex storylines into her romantic plots, creating an emotional depth that is unmatched. I didn’t know it was possible, but Jimenez takes her amazing storytelling to the next level with Emma and Justin. The two meet on a Reddit thread created by Justin and hit it off. Comments on Reddit lead to text messages then phone calls. Emma, a traveling nurse, surprises Justin by taking her next assignment in Minnesota where Justin lives. This spontaneous summer romance becomes complicated with family obligation and drama. Just for the Summer is in the running to be my favorite romance of the year. —Kami Tei, Amazon Editor
In my opinion, an Emily Henry book release warrants a holiday. In her sparkling new romance, Funny Story, Daphne and Miles become unfortunate, unexpected roommates after their partners leave them…for each other. When they receive an invite to their exes’ wedding, pretending to date seems like a deserved dose of revenge. This book has all the trademarks we expect from Henry—charm, wit, beautiful scenery, the list goes on and on. But it’s also a departure from her previous books. Daphne and Miles don’t have a shared history, and it’s a delight watching their journey as they discover each other for the first time. This book is a feast for the senses (and the heart), and I didn’t want it to end. —Abby Abell, Amazon Editor
I swooned over the incredibly sweet characters in this rom-com debut. Amerie’s life is in the dumps—job, relationship, and family troubles have taken their toll. A chance encounter with her ex leads to a fake-dating scheme with a very handsome stranger. Come to find out, this stranger is a real-life astronaut who could also benefit from this arrangement—which I have to say, is becoming one of my favorite tropes. Vincent, a nerdy yet lovable scientist, is over his overbearing family and will do anything to get them off his back. Amerie and Vincent each have their own baggage and fears, but their gravitational pull toward each other can’t be denied. Delightfully entertaining! —Kami Tei, Amazon Editor
I couldn’t help but fall in love with Nora—her aggressively perky personality and determination to show up every day as her authentic self made her a truly inspiring character. Nora is a sports agent working to move up in a male-dominated industry. Derek is an NFL player who’s in need of a new agent. As fate would have it, Nora is assigned as Derek’s agent, which is the opportunity she’s been waiting for…with just one catch—the two were college sweethearts, and the breakup did not go well. Derek reluctantly allows Nora to be his agent, but there are rules, so many rules, the two must follow. What starts out as a ploy to make her life miserable ends up becoming a sweet and heartwarming second-chance romance. I was completely taken with this grumpy-sunshine, forced proximity rom-com. The seventh in The Bergman Brothers series (can be read as a standalone), this story follows Viggo, a slightly chaotic hopeless romantic who’s pursuing his dream to open a romance book store (could anything be more endearing?). The only thing missing from his life is true love. But an encounter with a former crush challenges what he thinks love should look like. Tallulah Clarke is a prickly mystery author with a bad case of writer’s block. It turns out not believing in love makes it challenging to write about. As their paths continue to cross, Viggo and Tallulah strike a deal—she’ll move in and help him get his bookstore running, and he’ll help her write about love authentically for her next book. But as their connection grows, they realize their preconceived notions about love might be all wrong. This is a heartwarming, sexy romance, and a great reminder that love (and life) doesn’t always look like we expect it to. —Abby Abell, Amazon Editor
