Most anticipated cookbooks of fall 2024
Fall is always a time for lots and lots of new cookbooks, and this year is no exception. We’ve got an exciting line-up of big names: Tom Colicchio, Ina Garten (it’s a memoir but still…), Tieghan Gerard, and Matty Matheson … along with exciting debuts from a former Top Chef star, and multi-million follower social media wonders such as @albert_cancook. I may not be ready for summer to be over, but with all these terrific cookbooks, I can’t wait to get cooking this fall.
Top Chef and Top Chef All-Stars alum Nini Nguyen won our hearts with her enthusiasm and innovative dishes pairing her Vietnamese heritage with hometown New Orleans flavors. In her debut cookbook, she does as the title suggests: gives us something special. Dishes Nguyen prepared with her grandmother bring traditional flavors to our home kitchens, and I love her witty anecdotes and notes—if it’s a recipe that’s going to take extra time, but is totally worth it, she lets you know. Inspired by the gorgeous photographs and clear directions, I’m definitely going to host my own spring roll party after adding this beauty of a cookbook to my shelf. —Seira Wilson, Amazon Editor

Known on TikTok and YouTube as “Ramen King Ivan,” Ivan McCombs has never shared his recipes online, so this book will finally give his millions of followers a chance to have them close at hand anytime they want. McCombs puts ramen to use in ways I’ve never imagined, and college students everywhere will be amazed at what they, too, can create with this humble pantry (or dorm room) staple. —Seira Wilson, Amazon Editor

This is not a cookbook, but Ina Garten is foodie royalty, and her memoir is one we’ve been talking about since we first heard it was coming a year ago. Garten’s signature wit and style is as evident on the page as it is in real life, and it’s so much fun to finally read, in her own words, about how she met her husband of 40+ years, went from building government budgets to building a food empire, and becoming a celebrity who’s attained a level of fame and familiarity that she could, if she chose to, be known simply as Ina. —Seira Wilson, Amazon Editor

It’s been far too long since we’ve seen a new cookbook from this beloved Top Chef judge and restauranteur, but this one is worth waiting for. Why I Cook is both memoir and cookbook, recounting Tom Colicchio’s path from a kid in New Jersey to high-end New York kitchens, entrepreneurship, and becoming a household name on an Emmy Award-winning show. The 60 recipes reflect Colicchio’s journey through food, giving us an even more intimate look at a chef many of us have come to know and admire. —Seira Wilson, Amazon Editor

Matty Matheson has become even more well-known thanks to his role as an actor and executive producer on the hit show The Bear, but that hasn’t slowed him down in the kitchen! In his latest cookbook, Matheson puts his creativity to use on three meal mainstays: soup, salad, and sandwiches. Classics with a signature twist elevate this humble trifecta, and Matheson includes personal stories and photos along with the 126 recipes. —Seira Wilson, Amazon Editor

With his huge (20+ million followers on YouTube alone!) social media following for @albert_cancook, this debut is definitely on our radar! Albert Niazhvinski gets his inspiration from a wide range of sources, including movies (Deadpool Pizza, anyone?) and fast-food favorites (Big Mac Burrito? Um, yes, please) and the results are creative and delicious. He’s put a lot of thought into his first cookbook—not only on which viral recipes to include, but also how to mimic the experience of watching him online by creating a self-standing format for the cookbook itself. I bet we’ll see this one on many a wish list come holiday time. —Seira Wilson, Amazon Editor

Okay, I don’t like to play favorites, but I’m going to confess that Tieghan Gerard is one of mine. I have all three of her previous cookbooks and one of them is so well-loved it’s literally falling apart. I’m so excited for a new one from her, especially when we’re talking comfort food that doesn’t take all day. I’ve had a peek at a handful of the recipes and my mouth is already watering. Add in that most take only 45 minutes or less, and I’m inspired (and hungry)—and I haven’t even gotten my hands on the actual book yet! —Seira Wilson, Amazon Editor
