It’s only February, but I suspect Deep End will be one of my favorite books of the year. A college romance unlike any I’ve read before, it is refreshingly honest, vulnerable, and sexy in a way that surprised and captivated me. Scarlett is a diver at Stanford recovering from an injury and holding herself to impossibly high standards. Lukas is a composed, world-champion swimmer and captain of the Stanford swim team. When a secret is revealed, it turns out that Scarlett and Lukas have more in common than she thought. And what starts as a mutually agreed upon arrangement becomes one of the most enlightening, moving, and—yes—hot dynamics I’ve had the pleasure of reading. I recommend everyone dive into the deep end (had to be done) with this incredible romance. —Abby Abell, Amazon Editor
A brilliant mix of music and romance, The Love Lyric checked all the boxes for a perfect slow-burn love story. I am not at all ashamed of my crush on Angel. He is smooth, sexy, and has it bad for Iris—and I wanted nothing more for her than to have a second chance at love that she absolutely deserves. Iris is the third sister in The Greene Sisters series and boy was her story worth the wait—my new favorite of the trio. Iris’s company, Save Face Beauty, hires megastar Angel to represent their products in a campaign tour. At the last minute, Iris—a widowed single mother whose sister happens to be Angel’s stylist—is asked to lead the tour due to her familiarity with the star. The tension between the two is immediately undeniable, even as they fight it. An absolute delight! —Abby Abell, Amazon Editor
An ode to Sleepless in Seattle, this romance is charming and hopeful. It follows two jaded souls, Lucie Stone and Aiden Valentine. When Lucie hears her daughter on the phone late at night, she bursts into her room imagining the worst. What she hadn’t imagined was that her daughter had called a local Baltimore radio show Heartstrings about her mom’s nonexistent love life. What follows is a brutally honest, and public, conversation with host Aiden that goes viral and turns into an offer for Lucie to appear on the show to find love. Aiden is immediately dazzled by Luice, but even though he hosts a show about love, he no longer believes in it. And Lucie deserves better. As Lucie and Aiden face their fears and let their defenses down, the city rallies around them in endearing and hilarious ways. This book is a love letter to love and to Baltimore. As a Marylander, it had me missing everything about this charming city (I ordered Berger cookies halfway through the book). This is a romance to cherish. —Abby Abell, Amazon Editor
Feisty and spicy—A Tropical Rebel Gets the Duke, an interconnected standalone novel from the Las Leonas series, had me laughing one second and fanning my face the next! Dr. Aurora has to be one of the most stubborn characters I’ve encountered. From her clothing to her business affairs, the doctor couldn’t care less what people think about her. That is, until she meets Apollo, the Duke of Annan, who she detests and desires at the same time. In this action-packed Regency romance, Dr. Aurora struggles with ghosts of her past and the dangers of her underground clinic while resisting her draw to Apollo, who appears to always be at her service, especially when she doesn’t want him around. Apollo is struggling to fit into his new role as a duke, and has been told he needs a wife to solidify his position. The intense banter between these two only draws them closer, but their goals and aspirations are at odds. You will not be disappointed to see how these two fight their way to love. —Kami Tei, Amazon Editor
This lovely debut romance will speak to anyone who’s ever doubted themselves and hoped that someone saw them for who they truly are. Leigh is stunned when she’s accepted into a prestigious MFA program for her poetry but furious when she discovers that Will, her high school crush-turned-enemy, is part of the same program. She’s never quite gotten over his criticism of her work (all style, no substance), as it speaks to her worst fears. She’s determined to prove herself and ignore Will at all costs, but when he submits a poem that’s clearly about her, they both recognize that their simmering tension is about more than past hurts. Leigh’s vulnerability was so honest and relatable, and Will’s clear adoration of her was deeply swoony. I can’t wait to see what this author writes next. —Abby Abell, Amazon Editor
