On a wooden desk next to a vase, an Echo Show displays the Tap to Alexa options screen.

How to interact with Alexa without speaking

Tap to Alexa lets people interact with Alexa using touch instead of voice. On Echo devices with a screen, use Tap to Alexa to engage with Alexa without speaking and instead touching on-screen tiles or an on-screen keyboard.

Follow the steps below:
  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Accessibility and toggle Tap to Alexa on.
Once enabled, try the actions below:
  1. Try tapping default tiles to play music, find out the weather, or listen to the news.
  2. Try tapping the "Quick Question" tile and type in a request as you would with voice.
  3. Try tapping the "Add New" tile to create a custom tile that invokes your most frequently used Alexa interaction (for example, "play music by Bon Jovi").

Tap to Alexa is available on Echo Show and Echo Spot devices
