Empowering!
This book will probably be in my top 3 reads of 2025 for positive impact and value. It is an empowering book that I savored as I read a chapter a day until I finished it. Personally, I resonated with the first half of the book more than the second half. I felt that I got what I needed early on, but I did finish the book. I find myself saying, "Let Them" to myself regularly. And I focus on what I can do in the face of difficulties (let me). If you are in need of a boost in self-empowerment, this book will probably be that nudge.

Book Review: Let Them by Mel Robbins

Mel Robbins’ Let Them is a straightforward and impactful book that delivers a simple yet profound message: let people do whatever they want. Rather than wasting energy trying to control or change others, Robbins encourages readers to focus on their own responses and boundaries.

    Key Takeaways:

People will do what they want, and that’s okay. Instead of resisting this reality, accept it and adjust your own actions accordingly.

Your peace comes from within, not from controlling others. Letting go of expectations allows for emotional freedom.

Boundaries matter. Instead of trying to change others, focus on setting clear personal boundaries that protect your peace.

    Writing Style:

Robbins keeps it simple and conversational, making the book easy to read and apply immediately. There’s no fluff—just practical advice that resonates.

    Final Thoughts:

If you struggle with people-pleasing, frustration, or feeling stuck because of others’ actions, Let Them offers a refreshing mindset shift. It’s a quick read but leaves a lasting impact.

How I stumbled on this book at just the exact right timei n my life that I needed to is something short of a miracle. Yet not a miracle, becasue things and events in our lives often show up just when they are suppossed to. The timing needs to be right to absorb the message or lesson that is available from an event, experience, connection that happens in our life...good or bad. For me, I had reached a point where I was constantly busy with work, with concerns, with control issues around my life - family, work, environement, coworkers. I was breaking, and last year I broke. Something needed to change, I needed to change, but how. How many times in my life have I said this statement...too many to count. A simple email about this book showed up on my feed and I preordered it with the usual intention...THIS time it will work. Guess what, THIS time, it IS working. It is such a simple concept and an easy read. I have yet to move past the first 1/2 of the book, but even now the concept of LET THEM, and my fledgingly response to it has already made an impact in my life. I am more at peace, I have better interactions with those in my life, I am happier. Everyone needs to be ready for change when they are ready to change, and clearly this was a huge catalyst for me. All I can say is give it a try, what could you possibly have to lose, and what if you gained EVERYTHING?

Very useful theory, down to earth, clear and easy to read. Has helped me in a number of ways. Biggest is personal responsibility just for my own emotions, feelings, life outcomes and how to separate myself from letting others affect me profoundly which is a useful concept. I gave the book four stars, not quite five as one additional piece of information would have helped. That is, how to actually not permit others to affect one and how to ensure we focus only on our own issues and what we can change. Its concept wise great, needs a bit more practical of how to do what I would describe as gargantuan tasks like separating the self, especially if one spent a lifetime enmeshed with others. I think the reason why is that Mel herself likely needs time to consider how to actually accomplish it in her life, although I know she makes every effort, she explains she struggles too and therein lies the next challenge. Perhaps a part two or addended version later with the “how to” in numerous practical examples that are enormous challenges for the codependent which is in essence, in my opinion, who this is written for the most . Still, it is an excellent piece of literature .

I love this book so much! This book focuses on what I call the new liberation model versus the old model that was conditioned and programed into us that we currently find ourselves currently mirrored in with components of power, control, stress, fear, immaturity, righteousness, negativity bias, over- thinking, complaining, judgmental, critical/hyper-critical, egotistical (selfish/group selfishness), contradictory, hypocritical, uber competitiveness, fighting & arguing, fragmented society, entitlement, perfectionism, identifying/overidentifying with your thoughts and beliefs, mechanical society, misery, victim mentality, grasping, drama triangle, neuroticism, codependency, increased mental health issues & increased medical health issues and lots of news addiction & social media addiction and political addiction/political righteousness /political radicalness too.

Thank you to those (like Mel Robbins) that are doing deeper mental health therapy work on themselves to be better human beings, transform themselves, and to be a better version of themselves. Mel is a great example of a genuine, vulnerable, real, whole and authentic role model and a real leader in our society!

The other book that is like this book is called, "Liberated Love" and is also so good!

Remember, the younger generation is watching and witnessing all of this toxic & dysfunctional mess. Hopefully, the younger generation will learn from this and not be anything like the older generations.
