Wind and Truth: Book Five of the Stormlight Archive (The Stormlight Archive, 5) Kindle电子书
The long-awaited explosive climax to the first arc of the #1 New York Times bestselling Stormlight Archive—the iconic epic fantasy masterpiece that has sold more than 10 million copies, from acclaimed bestselling author Brandon Sanderson.
Dalinar Kholin challenged the evil god Odium to a contest of champions with the future of Roshar on the line. The Knights Radiant have only ten days to prepare—and the sudden ascension of the crafty and ruthless Taravangian to take Odium’s place has thrown everything into disarray.
Desperate fighting continues simultaneously worldwide—Adolin in Azir, Sigzil and Venli at the Shattered Plains, and Jasnah in Thaylenah. The former assassin, Szeth, must cleanse his homeland of Shinovar from the dark influence of the Unmade. He is accompanied by Kaladin, who faces a new battle helping Szeth fight his own demons . . . and who must do the same for the insane Herald of the Almighty, Ishar.
At the same time, Shallan, Renarin, and Rlain work to unravel the mystery behind the Unmade Ba-Ado-Mishram and her involvement in the enslavement of the singer race and in the ancient Knights Radiant killing their spren. And Dalinar and Navani seek an edge against Odium’s champion that can be found only in the Spiritual Realm, where memory and possibility combine in chaos. The fate of the entire Cosmere hangs in the balance.

关于作者
I’m Brandon Sanderson, and I write stories of the fantastic: fantasy, science fiction, and thrillers.
Defiant, the fourth and final volume of the series that started with Skyward in 2018, comes out in November 2023, capping an already book-filled year that will see the releases of all four Secret Projects: Tress of the Emerald Sea, The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England, Yumi and the Nightmare Painter, and Secret Project Four (with its official title reveal coming October 2023). These four books were all initially offered to backers of the #1 Kickstarter campaign of all time.
November 2022 saw the release of The Lost Metal, the seventh volume in the Mistborn saga, and the final volume of the Mistborn Era Two featuring Wax & Wayne. The third era of Mistborn is slated to be written after the first arc of the Stormlight Archive wraps up.
In November 2020 we saw the release of Rhythm of War—the fourth massive book in the New York Times #1 bestselling Stormlight Archive series that began with The Way of Kings—and Dawnshard (book 3.5), a novella set in the same world that bridges the gaps between the main releases. This series is my love letter to the epic fantasy genre, and it’s the type of story I always dreamed epic fantasy could be. The fifth volume, Wind and Truth, is set for release in fall 2024.
Most readers have noticed that my adult fantasy novels are in a connected universe called the Cosmere. This includes The Stormlight Archive, both Mistborn series, Elantris, Warbreaker, and various novellas available on Amazon, including The Emperor’s Soul, which won a Hugo Award in 2013. In November 2016 all of the existing Cosmere short fiction was released in one volume called Arcanum Unbounded. If you’ve read all of my adult fantasy novels and want to see some behind-the-scenes information, that collection is a must-read.
I also have three YA series: The Rithmatist (currently at one book), The Reckoners (a trilogy beginning with Steelheart), and Skyward. For young readers I also have my humorous series Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians, which had its final book, Bastille vs. the Evil Librarians, come out in 2022. Many of my adult readers enjoy all of those books as well, and many of my YA readers enjoy my adult books, usually starting with Mistborn.
Additionally, I have a few other novellas that are more on the thriller/sci-fi side. These include the Legion series, as well as Perfect State and Snapshot. There’s a lot of material to go around!
Good starting places are Mistborn (a.k.a. The Final Empire), Skyward, Steelheart,The Emperor’s Soul, and Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians. If you’re already a fan of big fat fantasies, you can jump right into The Way of Kings.
I was also honored to be able to complete the final three volumes of The Wheel of Time, beginning with The Gathering Storm, using Robert Jordan’s notes.
Sample chapters from all of my books are available at brandonsanderson.com—and check out the rest of my site for chapter-by-chapter annotations, deleted scenes, and more.

2025年1月20日在美国发布评论I did not enjoy this as much as the best of the previous ones. This book is full of exposition, the amount of backstory we got feels like it doubles what we had been given for all the series so far!
It’s amazing however that the outcome was not predictable at all and that we got pretty good answers. So, this part of the story focused on understanding Roshar history and crafting a satisfying finale.
While these goals might seem weak, most writers fail to deliver a proper ending or to fill the gaps in their stories. They build expectations, sheltered behind obscurity and when the time comes to drop the curtain, there hardly anything to show. Well, Sanderson does a pretty good job at that.
Our protagonists all have their moments and progress. If you have read more of Sanderson’s works you know what kind of ending to expect and yes, this feels like an ending, though there is a lot left untold. But yeah the scope of this story was so huge that not everything could be tied cleanly.
Without going into spoilers I will say that the pacing is slow. You know all will happen at the last 15% but you don’t feel that the first 85% is not worthy. I wanted to read this book in 1-2 days, though it was too large so it took me like 4-5. I could hardly stop reading.
There is emotion - not as strong as in some previous books, but enough to leave you in tears at times. Mainly that’s why I gave the 5th star.
If you reached this book I doubt you will skip it no matter what I write. If you do care, I will say that this whole journey (as journeys are often mentioned in the series) has been a precious experience for me - maybe my best book series. The ending is a bit more chaotic that Mistborn 1, but I will hold the 2 intros of the way of the kings in my heart until I die.
I must also add that if you are facing depression this series will probably help!
Life before death!Journey before destination brothers and sisters!

2024年12月10日在美国发布评论I'm a huge reader, Probably 2-3 books a week. Sanderson, admittedly, is one of my favorite authors due to his unique writing style and worlds.
This book blows anything away that he's written in my opinion! There are 3 main point of views you follow through this book and they change up pretty darn often which keeps the pace moving pretty quick. I remember seeing that I was only 20% of the way through the book and I couldn't believe how hooked I was and how much was happening already. Brandon has a way of being a little sloggish in the Stormlight Series... NOT in this book. The pacing is perfect.
There is a lot of introspect in this book. A lot of self discovery, but it's not boring - it's tied together with constant happenings. None of it feels forced and some of it is a bit surprising. You have to actually think about the whole book to even realize it's surprising because of how well it's done. You will see some people completely different at the end of this book. One in particular, in my opinion.
I laughed out loud plenty of times. I sat on the edge of my seat plenty of times. I thought I had it all figured out plenty of times (I was right about a couple of things throughout the book). In typical BS fashion Brandon tosses ya a few things that are almost impossible to feel out even though he does foreshadow here and there. You have to realize he loves a fake foreshadowing as well though.
Overall, this is my favorite book I've read of his. It brought so much together, elightened quite a bit, and really has me wondering what's happening next. VERY hard to try to figure out. But I CANNOT wait to see.
One note: As usual, you don't need to read the rest of the cosmere books for this, but oh boy if you do it's a lot more fun (at least I think it would be since I have). No matter what, get this book!

2025年1月12日在美国发布评论Well-thought out, well written, super satisfying. Minor annoying moments, like repetitive inner monologues (yes we know Shallan is afraid of her past, yes Kaladin is tired, yes Dalinar must choose right for everyone), but overall really really well done.

2025年1月3日在美国发布评论Starts off slow.
He probably could have shaved off 50 to 100 pages with better editing.
Most big moments hit.
Most big characters have satisfying resolutions to their stories.
Most mysteries of this arc are revealed.
A 10/10 work for Sanderson. Probably lower than that if scrutinizing his prose. Still a legendary fantasy read, regardless.

5.0 颗星,最多 5 颗星 Brilliant. Excellent. A twist at every turn
Finally, Sanderson shows us the true and uplifting power in building a story about people struggling with illness. This is the best written plot in all 5 SA novels, paying off arcs set up in the first books, closing some, changing others, and with a riveting, genius conclusion that sets up Jasnah's coming arc, as well as setting the stage for the next part of the SA. It's rather easier to start a tale than to end it. Hats off to the author.
Also, this more muted Sanderlanche was much much easier to digest, when I was fearing that it would be simply be more of the intensity from Oathbringer and Rhythm of War.

Great book with minor issues.
I gave 4.0, but if it were possible, I'd probably rate this book 4.5 out of 5. Subjectively, "Wind and Truth" is slightly weaker than books 1 and 2, but better than "Oathbringer" (3).
Positives:
Well -- it is a satisfying and pivotal part of the whole series. Plots come to conclusions, the scope of the story broadens, secrets are revealed. With new answers come new questions, which was to be expected, as there is more to come. Fun to read (exceptions below), clever, immersive. There's action and there's emotion. Overall an amazing story, bravely moving the whole Cosmere setting to a new level. The novel is a special treat for everyone who enjoys this universum as a whole.
Problems? Three.
One, Mr. Sanderson unfortunately caved in to, how to put it... extreme left ideology. The homosexual diversity romance feels like an ugly cliche. Especially in this genre and in the absence of other romance plots. Baaad choice. Feels like a slap to the face for probably half of the audience, while I'm sure the most extreme activists ("critics") will never be satisfied anyway.
Two. Turning a warrior into a psychologist? Nah. We all love our moms but (unless they break out of the character) they are a poor choice for action heroines. I can live with it, it was smoothly weaved in, yet I see no entertainment value in it.
Three, I am not a fan of constant dabbling in characters' past. I want the story and characters to move forward, not backward. This feels too much like therapy sessions, instead of having characters in the story. Compared to the first books, the interludes are shorter, the side stories perhaps more relevant... but still, around 2/3 into the book, progress slows down to near zero. Luckily, the whole story is structured in the style of Dante's "Inferno", which helps a bit, and that impression didn't last for too long.
One final point -- the hardcover version of this book is not for the weak... physically :) Prepare for heavy! I was, however, quite happy to soldier on... The Author, really, gave us an equivalent of 4 books in one! Amazing.
