The nightmare she’s running from is nothing compared to where she’s headed.

Tegan is
eight months pregnant, alone, and desperately wants to put her crumbling life in the rearview mirror. So she hits the road, planning to stay with her brother until she can figure out her next move. But she doesn’t realize she’s heading straight into a blizzard.

She never arrives at her destination.

Stranded in rural Maine with a
dead car and broken ankle, Tegan worries she’s made a terrible mistake. Then a miracle occurs: she is rescued by a couple who offers her a room in their warm cabin until the snow clears.

But something isn’t right. Tegan believed she was waiting out the storm, but as time ticks by, she comes to realize
she is in grave danger. This safe haven isn’t what she thought it was, and staying here may have been her most deadly mistake yet.

And now she must do whatever it takes to save herself—and her unborn child.

A gut-wrenching story of motherhood, survival, and twisted expectations, #1
New York Times bestselling author Freida McFadden delivers a snowbound thriller that will chill you to the bone.

My First Amazon Review
This is my 9th book, I read by this author. I started reading this book at 10:45am January 28th finished at 12:32am January 29th. It starts out with Tegan in legal negotiation with the father of her unborn child, as she is goes to see her brother. Tegan ends up getting into a crash. A large man saves her, she has nothing to fear from a helpful person, right? Or does she? He ends up taking her home instead of to the hospital which is where he should have taken her. His wife had an incident a few years prior that makes you wonder who is the true villian in the story. In the end, Tegan has her baby and ends up in better circumstances then when she started.

I read this book in one day and loved it. Some reviewers call Freida McFadden’s thrillers “formulaic” or predictable. To me they are comforting with the characters that are never quite who you think they are and the twists that make the story a thriller. This book was a new setting and an unexpected plot that kept my attention. I don’t always like a changing narrator but she wrote it well in this one, using it to give perspective to the characters’ actions with background and thoughts.

Her writing style is successful and I never grow tired of reading her books. Keep them coming, Freida!

This was the first time I preordered a book and tracked its delivery it to my home! This being my fourth Frieda McFadden book read, I was excited to see what she would conjure up for the is poor very pregnant woman with these strangers. Initially the pace of the book was a little slow but I did enjoy the more emotional parts of the story. The storyline became pretty predictable after some time but I was still in for the ride. I felt the ending of the book as a little flat and there was more she could have done with the story but it was an enjoyable read.

This book is okay. It’s long and drawn out and then it has a good twist at the end which brought the rating up slightly. This book made me more anxious and annoyed then captivated & interested. I did skim many chapters bc it was painful to read. Not that the writing is bad. It was the characters and their utter naivety and stupidity. I personally don’t handle stupid very well. The story starts good. There is a 8 month pregnant young woman Teagan (love her name) who is 23 years old. She finds herself pregnant and alone living in a dingy studio apartment working at a grocery store trying to make ends meet. I won’t spoil how she finds herself in the situation she’s in. She finds out something terrible happened and decides she’s going to drive 2 hours away to stay with her only living relative - her brother -for a few days. He reminds her a snow storm is coming, that she must leave early to avoid it. But the little ding Dong decides to work an extra shift then leaves for her brothers place. Well, it’s quite obvious that she gets herself into a terrible predicament by taking a back roads where she crashes her vehicle and finds herself stuck with no cell service. 23 is such a naive age really. Anyway, she gets help from a large man….and she thinks her and her baby are going to be saved. But are they???? If you are a reader who enjoys books about captivity, desperation and being rescued, this book is for you.

It's always exciting when a new McFadden novel comes out and this may be her best yet. Tense and breathtaking. Full of surprises. With a cast of characters beautifully fleshed out and believable. Maybe I didn't read it in one sitting, but I was definitely anxious to dig back in every time I had to take a break. Now, I have to wait impatiently for her next one.

The Crash immediately immerses the reader into a compelling psychological thriller, centered on a car crash and its intricate aftermath.

Freida again delivers a fast-paced and suspenseful ride with a storyline that unfolds with tightly wound tension. The characters’ secrets keep you guessing as you try to figure out whom to trust.

While a few plot points feel a bit rushed, Freida’s crisp writing and knack for building atmospheric dread make this a highly engaging read. Overall, it is an impressive psychological thriller that fans of the genre shouldn’t miss.

Great story and a quick read. This is the first Freida book that I have predicted almost all of the twists, but I didn't know the why. I am not criticizing, I was excited after reading so many of her books that I finally was correct on some twists! I really enjoy this author and her stories. She writes in a manner that is easy to understand and allows me to relax and read!

Freida McFadden has done it again with another page turner!

I couldn’t put this book down, I’ll be sleep deprived tomorrow but I read it in one sitting. It was a wild roller coaster from begging to end.

From maintaining a thrilling storyline with the main character Teagan, to making sure every other person she included in the story came full circle in the end. This is a must read! I won’t say much else because I’m not one for spoilers! Just press the download button already, you won’t be disappointed!!

    REVIEW :

Started to read this author in 2022. New author for me in late 2022 and I’ve read 12 books so far; a “quick-read” author. 9/12 books have been 4/5 stars as listed below.
    The Crash (‘25 - 4 Stars), The Boyfriend (‘24 - 4 Stars), The Housemaid is Watching (“24 - 4 Stars)
    One by One (‘20 - Read ‘23 - 4 Stars)
    The Perfect Son (‘19 - Read ‘23 - 4 Stars), Ward D (‘23 - 5 Stars), The Housemaid’s Secret (‘23 - 5 Stars), The Housemaid (‘22 - 5 Stars) and Never Lie (‘22 - 4 Stars).
    PLUS three 3-Star reads :
    The Teacher (‘24 - 3 Stars), The CoWorker (‘23 - 3 Stars) and The Inmate (‘22 - 3 Stars).

Very basic writing, like always, but I still find it entertaining. This one definitely had a few twists that surprised me. Complete ending but for some reason I think there will be a continuation of this story.

Well I was never a reader until last year and came across Freida McFadden - I have worked my way through so many of her books and I love them. Fast paced, keep you guessing and brilliant imagination. I’m not an expert at reviewing writing but what I can say is I have the attention span of something well, just doesn’t pay attention to things and I get bored - but not with these books. Love this author.
