How Does Drop In Work with Alexa?
Drop In is an optional Alexa feature that lets you connect instantly to supported Alexa-enabled devices, like an intercom.
When you receive a Drop In, the light indicator on your Echo pulses green and the audio or video connection to the person calling you begins automatically. You can have Drop In conversations between one or more devices in your household, or with your Alexa contacts.
Household Drop In
Household Drop In connects you to a two-way conversation through your Alexa-enabled devices within your Amazon household. You can connect to a specific device group by saying "Alexa, Drop In on living room."
Group conversations are also available with all supported Alexa-enabled devices under your Amazon household not set to Do Not Disturb. To start a group conversation, ask Alexa to Drop In everywhere.
All supported Alexa-enabled devices under your Amazon household account connect regardless of their physical location.
Contact Drop In
Contact Drop In connects you to a two-way conversation through an Alexa-enabled device with an Alexa contact.
To use Contact Drop In, you and your contact must provide Drop In permissions. Then say, "Drop in on [contact name]."
