2025年2月12日在美国发布评论Pregnant Tegan flees her troubled past and gets stranded in a blizzard in rural Maine. She is rescued by a couple and taken to their cabin, but soon realizes she is in grave danger. She must fight to save herself and her unborn child in this chilling snowbound thriller.
I delved into this story with no prior knowledge, and I am grateful that I did. If I didn't have responsibilities and a busy life to attend to, I could have easily finished this book in a single day. It is incredibly addictive, and I found it difficult to tear myself away whenever I had to pause my reading. I was tempted to cancel all my plans just to keep reading! A word of caution: avoid reading this book before bed, as it will keep you up all night. It's nearly impossible to put down.
There were so many aspects of this book that I enjoyed. The intricate plot, unexpected twists, and surprising ending kept me engaged from start to finish. The story was well-crafted and cleverly designed to keep readers guessing. The twist towards the end caught me completely off guard, leaving me in awe.
The underlying message of the book is a powerful reminder that people are not always what they seem. It encourages readers not to judge others based on appearances or assumptions. The book's dark and twisted nature, reminiscent of "Misery" meeting "Rosemary's Baby," creates a chilling yet captivating atmosphere. And despite the darkness, the book still manages to deliver a satisfying and uplifting conclusion.
The vivid descriptions of the environment in the book add an extra layer of creepiness and darkness to the narrative, making it impossible not to feel a shiver down your spine at times.
If you're a fan of Freida's work, you will undoubtedly enjoy this book. It stands out from her other works, as she poured her heart and soul into rewriting it multiple times. The dedication and passion she put into this book are evident on every page. It has quickly become one of my favorite reads. Well done!
Thank you, Poisoned Pen Press, for the ARC copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

2025年2月20日在美国发布评论I jumped into this book, looking forward to a wild ride that is typical of Freida McFadden’s writing. Her twists have become legendary. However, The Crash is my least favorite book of hers. It was good, solid 3 star story, yet it didn’t have that WOW factor we have come to expect. I enjoyed the emotional moments, and there were many, but the ending just fell flat. Of course, maybe we, as readers, have become so accustomed to a mind blowing ending, that we read with that expectation for every book. A book isn’t bad because there’s not a shocking twist. We need to learn to appreciate the narrative that is given to us, without our own expectations clouding our view. That being said, I’m going to change my review to 4 stars; The Crash is a fun thriller and I can learn to be happy with that.

2025年2月3日在美国发布评论This book is okay. It’s long and drawn out and then it has a good twist at the end which brought the rating up slightly. This book made me more anxious and annoyed then captivated & interested. I did skim many chapters bc it was painful to read. Not that the writing is bad. It was the characters and their utter naivety and stupidity. I personally don’t handle stupid very well. The story starts good. There is a 8 month pregnant young woman Teagan (love her name) who is 23 years old. She finds herself pregnant and alone living in a dingy studio apartment working at a grocery store trying to make ends meet. I won’t spoil how she finds herself in the situation she’s in. She finds out something terrible happened and decides she’s going to drive 2 hours away to stay with her only living relative - her brother -for a few days. He reminds her a snow storm is coming, that she must leave early to avoid it. But the little ding Dong decides to work an extra shift then leaves for her brothers place. Well, it’s quite obvious that she gets herself into a terrible predicament by taking a back roads where she crashes her vehicle and finds herself stuck with no cell service. 23 is such a naive age really. Anyway, she gets help from a large man….and she thinks her and her baby are going to be saved. But are they???? If you are a reader who enjoys books about captivity, desperation and being rescued, this book is for you.

2025年2月5日在美国发布评论I had fun reading this, but I was never in doubt of what would eventually happen. This is because I've read so many Freida McFadden books that I don't fear for the main characters anymore. The twist was obvious, but again, this is because McFadden has a style that's predictable after reading two or three of her books. I still love her stories!
What I didn't like about this one is how dumb the main character is. She's a terrible judge of character, and in the end, when she gets her happily ever after, it's obvious to me that the lawyer is after her money. This was obvious in the beginning, too. Poor, dumb Tegan. Still dumb as a bag of rocks.
*Almost* too stupid to be alive, lol.
Somewhere in the middle, I started skipping Tegan's chapters. She was boring. Polly, though a villain through and through, was much more interesting to read. Also, there was a forced dramatic moment in the book, where Polly invites Tegan's brother into the home for coffee. Yeah, I skipped that too.
C'mon, McFadden. Every time the police show up, the main characters are never found out. Nothing ever happens. It's all fake, forced suspense. And Polly inviting the brother in was unrealistic. It felt cheesy and bad, in a soap opera kind of way.
I'm taking a break from McFadden, as she's become predictable and unrealistic.
BUT this was still a good read. I liked Polly and her husband. I skipped some chapters, but generally McFadden won't leave you bored. If this is your first book of hers, you'll probably enjoy it.

5.0 颗星,最多 5 颗星 Freida never fails!
I love the whole story line, from start to finish. I love the story behind polly, and I think no matter what. The emotions you feel towards her throughout, changes when you understand her full story. Always with a freida book, the most obvious villain, always turns out to be the best character, I knew Hank was good from the moment he helped Tegan in the car. No matter how he was portrayed. But of course the twist at the end. I was soooo certain it was Sadie!! So I absolutely loved that plot twist at the end. However, I did guess the brother from the start, I knew he played a major role. However, that’s because I’m a freida fan, read all of her books to date, I know how she writes now. So it’s not a negative.
Great book, amazing characters. Lots of room for interpretation, plot twists and an amazing story line. Can be triggering to some, but I think it’s amazing that it was spoken about. I mean, nobody speaks on about the after effects on one’s mental health after the events taken place like explained in the book.

4.0 颗星,最多 5 颗星 OKAY MCFADDEN! ALMOST PERFECT… JUST ALMOST
It was almost perfect, I think.
I didn’t expect the late epilogue’s plot twist of Hank, but I really didn’t like much the one of Tegan’s brother.
Also, Freida, wasn’t another name rather than Tia to call the baby. Maybe for UK and USA readers is not a big deal but I’m a Spanish reader and the baby’s name is literally translated to “Aunt”
