Compelling Story Mirroring Black, Urban AmericaI couldn't stop routing for Demon and hoped he would strike it big with his talent of drawing. However, the author didn't give us a nice, neat, feel good story. She told a heart wrenching tale that left me feeling empty, reflective, and angry at times. It amazed me how similar the lives of the folks of Lee County mirrored that of Black, Urban America during the crack epidemic. Ironically our child protective services system isn't very protective of our most vulnerable, population of children.1
