This lid is so superior to my original lid!If I had any idea how amazing this lid was compared to my original, I would have replaced it years ago. My 30 oz cup is 6 years old. Two days ago, when I was washing it, the lid finally cracked. I had dropped it several times over the years, so this wasn't unexpected and I went online to order a replacement lid.But even prior to the crack in it, I used to end up with ice water pouring down my chest when I went to drink from it. I use a straw and if I didn't leave enough space at the top of the cup, the very act of tilting it to reach the straw would cause the ice water to come out all over me. It leaked through the straw hole along the edges of the straw, which was located right on the very edge of the lid.Part of my interest in choosing this replacement lid was that the straw hole is in the center and I was hoping that the center hole would mitigate me getting ice water baths when I drank from it.For my first use, I purposely filled the cup to the top instead of leaving an inch or two of room to allow for tipping it to drink from the straw. To be honest, I was apprehensive because I had to tilt it much more to reach the straw. But, no leaks! I can now fill my cup to its intended volume without worrying about spillage!I also like the design of the lid closures. My previous lid had a clear plastic sliding piece that slid back to allow you to drink from it or insert a straw into it. That sliding piece eventually came loose and was lost. I never carried it in the closed position anyway so that didn't bother me that much, but having that sliding piece made it more difficult to keep clean. Water was always trapped under the sliding piece and I had to really rinse it to make sure there was no soap caught under there. It was actually easier to maintain after that piece came off. With this new lid, I popped it into the open position and easily washed and rinsed it without worry about trapping any soapy water. Same with the closure for the straw. This was so much easier to wash and dry!I can highly recommend these lids for those reasons. Now obviously I just received it today, so I can't speak to the longevity of the lid, but I have high hopes. I have put the second lid away and will be using it when I purchase a new cup.1
