You don't have to believe in the law attraction for this book to work. This book is actually fun to read and really gives a lot of useful advice when it comes to money. She includes shifts in thinking that make an immediate difference in your money mindset (example certain things I'd always been grateful for but didn't consider as "abundance" were immediately expanded in my mind) as well as journaling prompts and contemplative questions to yield longer term growth and change.I enjoy a great number of "woo" practices but some "woo" concepts really make me want to gag. What was great about this book was that even when I disagreed with certain premises, the concepts still worked. For example:- The author believes in the law of attraction. I personally do not, because I think it is a slippery slope to blaming people who live in poverty or conflict etc that they haven't been able to positively think their way out of it; despite this difference, I do agree that many of the ideas in law of attraction will yield a better mindset, which will lead to more abundance (if you are already living in a stable place in the world). The author mentions law of attraction as "true," but this book is NOT about practicing the law of attraction, and even if you feel as I do, the concepts presented by the author are extremely useful and applicable.- She explains in a simple way how money is "infinite" (a phrase that first made me roll my eyes as) that I'd never heard used before: Simply that the same dollar can be spent many times and bring benefit to many people. Based on this premise, she suggests was to cultivate your micro-community, which further builds a sense of abundance, again providing very practical advice on ways to cultivate an improved money mindset as well as a sense of community, which will likely lead to more opportunity for business and financial success.- She presents a set of money "chakras" that she explains everyone has within them, and that each one has pros and cons, but when they are out of balance, they can cause very negative habits with both actual spending practices AND mindset. It was very easy to identify which "Chakras" I tended to become out of balanced in, and the chakras are simply a visual image to understand the concept (not a literal or physical thing inside of us).The author also tells a lot of her personal story as she explains her approaches and ideas. I was actually super excited to read the book every night because I wanted to know what would happen next!! That was a fun surprise that I didn't expect in a non-fiction/self-help book! This book is clearly targeted at women business owners, due to the examples and the language (references to having a business, etc), however I would say that anyone who enjoys Jen Sincero's "You are a badass" or "You area badass at making money" or similar books that share personal stories as they relay great advice for making your life better will enjoy this book. (Carolynn Bottino does include some examples/references to more career-path choices, they are just less often than business type references - the ideas she present are useful to BOTH groups.)Overall, I recommend this book if you are interested in a simple way to identify your money mindset habits and want simple, approachable, and even fun ways to begin to shift those habits into a new approach that will help you identify abundance in your life with ease. I've read it through once, but I'm planning to go back through again and answer all the questions in the back of each chapter... I hope the author comes out with a guided journal someday!!!1
