Great as usual
Distinct sound of The Gorillaz once again in a unique album.

Replacing old copy
I purchased this CD to replace the one I had from years ago that no longer played on my CD players.

Ftaghn! That's right!
Had a copy of this years ago, lost it when I moved, so finally replaced it. The genres of Pokemon and Lovecraft blur together into an RPG, of all things. This one little book has the entire game system (I think there's another book, but I have no idea), where your characters (just imagine Ash, Brock, Misty or any of the other characters from the cartoon) dealing with elder gods, alien fungus, etc., all with cute little monsterforms you can catch and use against other nightmare beasts you encounter later, including instructions on how to add your own creations to your monster army.

Not Lovecraft, but Lovecraft
If you can get past the beginning, where the narrator spends a lot, and I mean A LOT, of time telling the reader why he got back into fishing after years of not doing so, It's a pretty good Lovecraftian tale. That beginning part, though.. woof... that got to be a slog after so many pages, to a point where all the main character was "the dude-seriously-into-fishing-guy," but I stuck it out (after taking breaks of a day or so) and it got to be pretty good.

Best thing in 2020 for me
I found out a week late that Blue Oyster Cult had a new album drop. Reminds me a lot of "Heaven Forbid," melodically. Already listening to it at least once a day since arrival.

Space-gun-train-robot
Astrotrain was one of my favorite characters from the original Transformers cartoon series. The robot transforming into a space shuttle and a coal-powered locomotive was the apex of doofiness, and I loved it. The current version keeps the original alt modes, but adds a detachable "backpack" that can store the plethora of weapons he carries, as well as transforming into a launch pad and a coal compartment to go along with the individual vehicle modes. The articulation is far beyond what I had growing up; the OG Astrotrain didn't have joints in his arms, let alone waist or knees, and this one takes it ten steps further, with all major joints covered, except the wrists.

Put on your thinking caps....
Never thought one of the toughest books to read would be a rulebook for a roleplaying game. This is a comedy RP game set in the distant future, where humans are extinct and player choose from races like cockroaches, earthworms and sentient Twinkies. Most of the first half is world building/background, and the remainder the rules. No matter which part you read, it's like "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" as dictated by Minions: lots of made up words that sounds like someone speaking cockney British slang while holding a mouthful of marbles. It is funny, don't get me wrong... I don't think I can name another roleplaying game that has "pimp" as a legitimate class... but my God is it tough to read. I have to read every paragraph three times to understand what is being said, and even then, half the time I'm still not completely clear. TL;DR: I bought a book for a game I'm probably never going to play and can't read it because English becomes a foreign language.

Bigger is better for Wyrd
It's strange, when you think about it... the smaller the kits from Wyrd, the more pieces an individual model seems to have. A dude standing less than two inches tall can have upwards of ten or more pieces. That's why I like models the size of the Geryon. Sure they'll have eight or nine pieces, but I can easily see where they fit, rather than test fitting to see what's right.

Better than the original.
To be completely honest, I really didn't like the Autobots when the cartoon and toys first showed up. I was never a "car guy," and the Decepticons turned into fighter jets and stuff. But then, decades later, I watched a review of this figure, and was blown away. You see, the original toys sacrificed articulation for the transformation gimmick. You'd be lucky if the toy could turn it's head, and most could only raise their arms at the shoulder. The original Cliffjumper took five steps to transform. This one takes eighteen. Eighteen! In robot mode, it's very faithful to the G1 cartoon, even having the car wheels rotate inside the body so they aren't seen in robot mode. Articulation-wise, the head, shoulders, arms, elbows, waist, hips, knees, and feet have swivel or ball joints. It even has a tertiary mode as a nod to the cartoon, where in one episode he gets waterfoils. I'm really kinda angry this wasn't around when I was a kid; my attitude towards the "car guys" would definitely been different. If I have a complaint, it's that there is no Autobot symbol on it in robot mode. There is one in the car mode, on a panel that flips over the head, but not in robot mode. That is seriously my only issue... this is a great figure.

A great reference book, especially for horror RPGs
An incredibly detailed reference book, complete with illustrations and "photographs," detailing vampires from practically every country in the world. I picked this up for a friend who plays a horror roleplaying game, whose session had become "stale." While in no way a dedicated RPG book, there were hundreds of potential enemies for his players to combat once he assigned stats to them.

At least I know these guys (and gals)
I already play Summoner's War when I can... I don't have personal wifi available in my area, so I have to make plans ahead of time to sit at Starbucks/Dunkin Doughnuts/etc. to play these sorts of games. That being said, since I'm a comic book nerd, I can look at the characters offered an know that "this guy has laser beam eyes, I should boost damage and accuracy" or "this guy is tough and hits things, so I'll boost strength and toughness." It is another grindy game where you CAN use microtransactions and use real money to progress, but don't NEED to... you can tough it out and hope that less-than-1-percent-drop happens.

Yep, it's a case cover
Ordered it because I was tired of trying to prop my tablet against an object, only to have the tablet slip because someone bumped the table or the tablet was just to heavy and the object slid away from it. All in all, it works fine for the occasional bump and ding, though I admit I haven't truly tested it... I haven't flung the tablet across the room, or let it clatter to the floor after being spun it on my finger like a frisbee yet.

May be too fiddly for players
I wanted a game on my tablet that didn't need constant access to a wireless network, so I picked Minecraft over the various puzzle/poker/solitaire games. It may not be a good game for people (like me) who are used to keyboard direction controls (aka WASD) and using a mouse to turn around. I didn't grow up on mobile games where characters are controlled by dragging your finger across the screen, so I may get bored of this game, but for now, I'm wiling to give it a shot. At only six bucks or so, I won't feel cheated.

A fine way to pass time
All cards on the table, the only reason I got this was because a bunch of my friends play it. I don't have wireless at home, so I can only play it where free wifi is available and I intend to spend more than a couple minutes there. It has a pretty steep learning curve, and the tutorials are more about telling you how awesome you are doing and story progression (yes, there is a story, supposedly) than actually HELPING you. Pay attention to what they say, 'cause they won't say it again. Ads for in-game stuff (i.e. pay to win) are everywhere, but I'm told that's par for the course with these sorts of games.

Hey Thor, hold my beer
Comedy Central has a show called Drunk History, where celebrities get hammered and tell stories from history. Other comedians and actors act out these stories, drunken stammering and slurred dialog and all. This is similar, except the author is telling you about mythology from around the world. Imagine some drunk a-hole at a bar rattling on from Bullfinch's Mythology at the top of his lungs or going on about how the Egyptian goddess Sehkmet was killing everyone ... "NO, TOTALLY... SHE WAS A LION... A LION WITH CHAINSAW HANDS....!" It's hilarious, and as a fan of mythology, on point. It is an accurate retelling of world mythology, but with a hardline note on how ridiculous the stories can get.

Still a favorite
I'm not a fan of "modern" music. To give you an idea of what I mean, the first band I saw play live was Blue Oyster Cult, followed shortly after by Nazareth. It takes a lot for me to notice a band or artist, and I find myself falling back of "the golden oldies" of the '70s. Hell, I'd rather listen to what is considered the worst of the '80s before listening to what is considered the best of the '90s, or later. That being said, it was The Gorillaz video for "Clint Eastwood" that drew me too them. The Gorillaz have a unique sound I can't quantify, and snapped me from my "golden oldies only" mentality. I highly recommend this album, or, if not this one, "Plastic Beach."

Blast from the past (with a broken? leg)
When I was a kid, I had the five original Terrorcons, and, despite them only showing up in one show in a series that was in essence 20-minute toy ads, they were among my favorites. I never knew they were brought back in a larger scale. This version is much better by having more articulation (and by that, I mean it HAS articulation) and better detailing. Transforming from robot to monster is slightly more complex than the original, but still incredibly simple. There is one problem, and I don't know if it's just on mine or a common issue: one of the leg panels doesn't close when in monster form, and I don't want to force it to snap closed in fear of breaking the little catch. In the instructions, the panel should be held closed by the other leg, but it just doesn't want to.

Use caution
This is a lot like Neil Gaiman's "American Gods" using Lovecraft's Mythos. It's a pretty quick read, with most chapters being only a few pages, and most paragraphs being a couple of sentences long, but a lot of that is the main character questioning what exactly is going on. I get that it's supposed to be a whirlwind of actions, but pretty soon, all I can see is her being whiny rather than a strong protagonist.
