Michael D. Lazares

Michael served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a combat helicopter pilot. He flew in the Army for seven years and was a flight instructor. He remained in the US Army Reserves and retired after twenty eight years as a CW-5. While in the USAR he participated in numerous Protective Service Missions around the world. Michael became a PSM Instructor and trained various law enforcement personnel. He also taught Anti-Terrorism Driving. Michael served as an officer in the Tacoma Police Department and retired as a Detective in the Homicide unit. While with TPD he was an Instructor in Officer Survival, Combat Pistol and Shotgun and Unarmed Defensive Tactics. He spent a total of thirty years in law enforcement and also retired from the Division of Fraud for the State of Washington. He has three children and two grandchildren, and is living in Arizona with his wife of 50 years, Heleen.
