Alexandrea Lechelle

关于作者

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, with roots stretching across Louisiana, Alexandrea has always felt a deep connection to the stories of the South. Having lived in both Texas and Louisiana all their life, she noticed a gap in literature representing the real, complex issues faced by people in these regions—particularly within the Black community. This gap sparked their journey as a writer. Inspired by a desire to bring untold stories to life, Alexandrea writes with the purpose of shedding light on critical topics like gentrification, mental health in the Black community, parental wounds, and the importance of creating safe spaces for Black women and men to express their emotions. But above all, her work emphasizes the beauty of healthy Black love and the power of Black women being cherished and celebrated. An avid reader, bullet journaler, crafter, and cook, Alexandrea finds creative fuel in everyday activities and in the work of influential authors like Toni Morrison, Zora Neale Hurston, Kennedy Ryan, Sadeqa Johnson. Many of the themes explored in her debut and future novels are drawn from personal experiences or those of close friends and family, making each story a deeply personal and authentic reflection of life. What began as a hobby during a winter break from teaching quickly evolved into a passion that brought her newfound purpose. Through their writing, Alexandrea hopes to offer readers not only an escape but also a deeper understanding of the challenges and triumphs within the Black community. For anyone aspiring to write, her advice is simple: “Just start. There is someone out there who needs to hear your story.”
