Ruth Sanderson

I loved two things the most when I was growing up - fairy tales and horses. I used to play in an abandoned theme park near a friend's house ---our imaginations went wild there. I loved a little stone cottage which was supposed to be the house of the Seven Dwarves. And over the past 40 years I have been drawing and painting fairy tales and horses (among other things) for the 90+ books I have illustrated. Many of my fairy tales are now back in print, including THE TWELVE DANCING PRINCESSES, CINDERELLA, and THE SNOW PRINCESS. I also illustrate the HORSE DIARIES series from Random House. A STORM OF HORSES is a picture book biography I wrote and illustrated about the French artist Rosa Bonheur, who painted an 8x16-foot painting titled the Horse Fair in the 1850's. I love cats. A CASTLE FULL OF CATS is a humorous story in rhyme. GOLDEN DREAMS, THE ART OF RUTH SANDERSON, is an art book on my 40+year career as an illustrator.
