Kirk Strosahl, PhD, is a co-founder of acceptance and commitment therapy, a cognitive behavioral therapy that has gained widespread adoption in the mental health and substance abuse community. Along with his better half, Patricia Robinson, he coauthored the critically acclaimed self-help book, The Mindfulness and Acceptance Workbook for Depression. Recently, this wife-husband team published another well received self help book, Inside The Moment: Five Steps to Transcending Stress Using Mindfulness and Neuroscience. Both of these self-help programs focus on helping people harness the power of simple, daily mindfulness practices designed to make contact with the things that matter in life, and to pursue them with passion. Kirk has also published books for professionals on how to use mindfulness to promote radical change in people who are suffering from depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance abuse problems to name a few. His most recent book, Inside This Moment: A Clinician's Guide to Promoting Radical Change Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is scheduled for release in September, 2015. When he is not writing books, Kirk works as a psychologist at Central Washington Family Medicine, a community health center serving lower income and uninsured patients.
