James Steele is the author of more than 50 books and monographs. His most recent book is Brooks + Scarpa Architects: A Journey of Discovery, published in 2021 by Gulf Pacific Press. He has written two books on the Egyptian architect Hassan Fathy, including Architecture for People: The Complete Works of Hassan Fathy with Thames and Hudson, and has a third coming in 2022 with Gulf Pacific Press. His other books include Ecological Architecture: Critical History which examines ecological architecture over the past century, and The Architecture of Rasem Badran; Narratives on People and Place, a monograph on the award-winning Jordanian architect. He recently published Contemporary Japanese Architecture: Tracing the Next Generation, with Routledge & Kegan Paul.
