Linda Hopkins, PHD, is a licensed clinical psychologist and certified psychoanalyst with a private practice in Washington DC. She is a member of the American Psychoanalytic Association, the International Psychoanalytical Association, and Division 39 of the American Psychological Association. Beginning in1992, she interviewed, in person, over 100 people internationally who knew Masud Khan before his death in 1989. Her book, False Self: The Life of Masud Khan, was published in New York (2006 by Other Press) and in London (2008 by Karnac). The biography won two awards for psychoanalytic scholarship: the Goethe Award from the Canadian Psychological Association in 2006 and the Gradiva award from the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis (NAAP) in 2007. In the course of her research she was given a complete copy of Masud Khan's Workbooks, his personal/professional diary, along with publication rights. In 2022, she co-edited and published Volume 1, Diary of a Fallen Psychoanalyst-The Work Books of Masud Khan, 1967-1972 (Karnac Books), with New York City analyst, Steven Kuchuck, DSW. The book is the definitive first hand description of Khan's thinking as the Khan archives were destroyed in 2019.
