It is a pure pleasure to help kids learn to create, learn to read, and learn other skills without them knowing they are learning.
The joy of seeing the “Ah-ha” moments spread across their faces and the happiness in their smiles when they “get it” is nearly indescribable. This is one reason I write, narrate, and read my books to kids in person and online. It is why I write lyrics and songs, too.
Stories come to me in a rush. Like a hurricane, they come whirling into my mind like a hundred mile an hour wind and at the oddest times. It never fails. When it happens, I desperately search for the closest piece of paper and a pen or pencil, so I can write the story before I forget it.
I wrote “The Great Elephant Rescue” on every square (front and back) of a thin, cocktail paper napkin. It was the only paper I could find while waiting for a date who was over an hour late. But the date is another story and dozens of children have learned about elephants, math, and numbers because of “The Great Elephant Rescue.”
Other stories have come to me in moments of gratitude or sadness. “Hugging God” and “Hugging Jesus” are two of those books.
My stories come from every and anywhere. In 1968 I was in Czechoslovakia with my family, when the Russians invaded. The invasion became known as the Prague Spring. My eyewitness account of Prague Spring is my non-fiction book “Caught in the Crosshairs of War.”
“Little Stockey & the Miracle of Christmas” came to me because I was alone one Christmas and decorated my house anyway. Like the main character, Little Stockey, I had several wonderful realizations.
Combining my Masters in Gifted Education with my Bachelors in Elementary Education and my life experience, my books are quietly educational. In other words – kids and adults learn without realizing it and could be learning about rhyming, problem solving, art, Spanish, creativity or more as they read the story.
My skills as an award-winning actress, voice talent and producer add to my stories, my family-oriented productions and my songs. My travel enables my imagination to soar as I recall the places I have been and the things I have seen. My volunteer work gives me a variety of perspectives.
The amazing stories behind my stories go on and on and on. Perhaps one day I’ll write a book about the originations of my stories.
Reading and adding my books to your book collection at home and in classrooms can enhance the readers’ knowledge, introduce, and strengthen skills.
I appreciate you taking a moment to read my bio, buy my books and write your reviews. Thank you. You can be a leader to those you know by owning and giving the Gale Nemec Book collection as gifts and as donations to those in need. Spoiler alert: Five new books are on the way!
