Kristin Denham teaches linguistics at Western Washington University in the far northwest corner of the U.S. Her scholarship focuses on better integration of linguistics into K-12 education. Perhaps her upbringing in the hills of Appalachia spurred her interest in language and its many varieties. A syntactician by training (at Swarthmore College, the University of Arizona, and the University of Washington), she has published on and teaches courses on syntax, especially the structure of Native North American languages.
