Richard Marcus

Once upon a time I worked in the magical world of theatre, but after nearly fifteen years of struggling to stay in one place I was worn out and needed a change. I went off into the real world for a while and worked first in a bead store and then in a denture lab. As T. S Elliot said "Mankind can only bear so much reality" and it all became too much for me, so I've run back to the shelter of the arts and took up the pen - well the keyboard anyway - and been happily ensconced here since 2005.

Thankfully I seem to be making progress as a writer as I began to pick up freelance work early in 2008 with the publication of an extensive interview with Willy DeVille in the German edition of Rolling Stone Magazine. Since then I've begun publishing the occasional article for the German based web site Qantara.de, written the liner notes for a DVD, and been commissioned to write the book "What Will Happen In Eragon lV? (published in 2009) by the nice people at Ulysses Press. They must have liked the work I did on it, and of those who actually read it before reviewing it there seems to be an even split between liking and hating it, because they commissioned me to co-author a second book. "The Unofficial Heroes Of Olympus Companion" which was published in 2011. I'm still looking for a publisher for my own fantasy series, "The Paths Life Takes" and am working on a couple of other projects as well. Somehow or other I find myself fifty years old, happily married and living in Kingston Ontario Canada with three cats. We all live in a small house with a big yard happily being crazy and making art as we can. Once a month you can find me at a local open mic poetry/prose series trying out new work.
