For more than a decade John Holl, an award-winning journalist, has covered the beer industry traveling the globe and in search of the best beers, brewers, and flavors. He is the author of Drink Beer, Think Beer: Getting to the Bottom of Every Pint, and The American Craft Beer Cookbook, which captures the best of the brewery and brewpub menus. He is also the author of Dishing Up New Jersey a cookbook celebrating the foods, flavors, cultures, and traditions of the Garden State. John is the co-host of the award-winning Steal This Beer podcast. Previously John served as editor of All About Beer Magazine, senior editor of Craft Beer & Brewing Magazine and he has worked for the New York Times, Newark Star-Ledger, and the Indianapolis Star. Additionally, his work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, Beverage World and Wine Enthusiast among many others. His earlier books include Massachusetts Breweries and Indiana Breweries. Having visited more than 1,300 breweries and brewpubs in the United States and around the world, John has met the people behind the beer, telling the story of beer and the culture of drinking. His work has received awards from the North American Guild of Beer Writers and by the British Guild of Beer Writers. John contributed a dozen entries to the critically acclaimed Oxford Companion to Beer and was featured in the New York Times 36 Hours: 150 Weekends in the USA and Canada, published by Taschen. He also contributed to Savoring Gotham, a book that chronicles the history of New York’s food traditions and his writing was featured in the anthology, Beer: In So Many Words. John regularly hosts beer dinners and presents lectures on a variety of beer topics. Always in search of a new place to visit, a different beer to try and interesting people to meet, he is available for writing assignments, events, or interviews.
