Kevin Henry is an award-winning industrial designer and currently an associate professor at Columbia College Chicago. He is interested in the power of visualization across the entire design spectrum from rapid-ideation sketching (form-giving) to scenario-based visualization (service design), to information and interaction design (mobile technology) to name a few. His current focus of research deals with the cognitive implications of visualization (from quick thumbnail sketch to high fidelity rendering) on the design process and how visualization, by analogy, naturally extends into physical prototyping. His online course Sketching For Product Design is now live on the lynda.com website: http://www.lynda.com/Design-Skills-tutorials/Welcome/197940/454853-4.html His plan is to finish the interactive workbook for the iPad this year to augment the print book. It will contain animations, videos, interactives, and quizzes to help students improve their sketching skills.
