Leisy J. Abrego is Professor of Chicana/o and Central American Studies at UCLA. She writes about how U.S. immigration policies shape the day-to-day lives of immigrants and their families, both in the United States and in El Salvador. Her academic work has been featured in The New York Times and Hoy. She has received numerous awards and honorable mentions from the American Sociological Association and the Latin American Studies Association for her work.
