Dr. Omar Kholeif is an award-winning author, curator, historian, and broadcaster who serves as Director of Collections and Senior Curator at Sharjah Art Foundation, UAE. Kholeif—one of the most prolific creators of their generation is the author, co-author, or editor of 41 books; the curator of 70+ exhibitions realized on six continents, and is the commissioner of more than 100 works of award-winning art. They are the Curator of the 1-54 FORUM on Contemporary African Art. Working as their avatar, "Dr. O", they founded www.artpost21.com, a platform for art, tech and social justice. Here, they host the artPost21 Podcast on art, music, and the experience of collective listening. Kholeif is the Series Editor of, Imagine Otherwise, a collection of pocket sized books on "female worlding", published by Sternberg Press. The first in the sequence, authored by Kholeif, focuses on the life and work of Sonia Balassanian and the New York art scene of the 80s and 90s, and was released in October 2022. In Spring 2023, Phaidon published their much-anticipated book, Internet_Art: From the Birth of the Web to the Rise of NFTs, a memoir of a life and career developed online.
