Joel's story started during the spring of 2004 in Myrtle Beach. While relaxing beachside with his high school friends, he received a call from his father who had just received one of his college acceptance letters in the mail. On a whim and over the phone, Joel decided to pursue mechanical engineering without any prior background.
In fact, it has been his blind faith that has led him down this unusual path to where he is today. A couple facts you should know about him:
- He proposed to his wife the very first night they met (and she said "no")
- He achieved a 4.0 GPA one semester in college without buying a textbook
- His first entrepreneurial endeavor was hoarding beanie babies for resale (because we all know stuffed animals mature in value)
- While he enjoys mechanical engineering, he lacks the "handy-man" trait. After installing a new car stereo in his Jeep, he was forced to make an emergency pit stop on his way to college when his Jeep caught fire due to mis-wiring.
In 2012 Joel wrote his first book, "30-Minute EIT How to beat the FE exam without beating your head" to help aspiring professional engineers effectively prepare for the Fundamentals of Engineering exam. It was published on Amazon in 2014 and reached the #1 ranking for Study Guides.
He currently lives in Rochester, NY with his wife, Maryjo.
