Cat Hope is a Western Australian based composer, sound artist, performer, songwriter, noise artist, writer and researcher. She is the director of Decibel new music ensemble which tours often and performs her work. In 2011 and 2014 she won the Award for Excellence in Experimental Music at the APRA AMC Art Awards and in 2013 was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to study digital graphic notation worldwide. She completed her PhD entitled “The Possibility of Infrasonic Music” in 2010, and is currently a researcher at WAAPA, Edith Cowan University in Western Australia. Cat loves books; reading them, writing them, making them, editing and publishing them. From 1999 - 2008 she ran her own label BloodStar Productions which printed handmade books, zines and CDs. She is the founder and editor of 'SoundScripts - the Proceedings of the Totally Huge New Music Festival Conference' since 2007, as well as a number of short run books published by PICA, The Australian Music Centre and Tura New Music.
