Josephine Ensign has been a public health nurse for over forty years and has the lived experience of homelessness as a young adult. Her scholarship and practice as a nurse practitioner focus on trauma-informed care and health inequities for people marginalized by poverty and homelessness. Ensign is the author of four books on homelessness, including Skid Road: On the Frontier of Health and Homelessness in Seattle and Way Home: Journeys Through Homelessness. She has a podcast, Skid Road, featuring interviews with people working and living at the intersection of health and homelessness.
