Kathryn Griffin Swegart is an award-winning author of childrens books with Catholic themes. She was born in Boston and raised in the suburbs where backyards were small and streets were busy. In 1993 she moved with her husband and children to a small farm in Maine. Now the children are grown and leading productive lives. It is one of her great joys to spend time with her family, including her eleven grandchildren. She rises early in the morning to write stories for young readers. Her first book, Heavenly Hosts: Eucharistic Miracles for Kids, became an Amazon bestseller. It is part of a series called Catholic Stories for Kids. The second book in the series is called Miraculous: Catholic Mysteries for Kids, a treasury of 10 stories of famous events in Church history. Children will read about the Miracle of the Sun, the Shroud of Turin, Our Lady of Guadalupe and more. Both books have delightful pen and ink illustrations. She has written another books series for older readers called Brave Hearts. Both Perilous Days and Martyrs received the Seal of Approval given from the Catholic Writer's Guild. Brave Hearts is a series of books for young people about Catholic heroes and heroines. Now more than ever, we need inspiration. Lucia of Fatima won first place for Best Books for Young Readers (ages 10-16) in the Catholic Media Awards competition. Rescued: True Stories for Catholic Kids is her most recent publication.
