Paul B. Sturtevant is a medievalist, a public historian, an author, and a fierce advocate for the relevance of the past to contemporary people's lives. Born in Northern Virginia, Paul studied Drama and English at Syracuse University, before moving to the United Kingdom to study the Middle Ages at the Centre for Medieval Studies at the University of York (MA), and the Institute for Medieval Studies at the University of Leeds (PhD). He works at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., and is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of "The Public Medievalist" (www.publicmedievalist.com), a web-zine devoted to producing high-quality, enjoyable, and accessible articles on medieval history for as broad an audience as possible.
